  5. Top 5 Tips for Molecule [VMS] Vertical Masonry Sealer

➢ Molecule [VMS] should be installed within an ambient and surface temperature range of 40º- 90º F (4.4-32.2 C). Shaded, low sunlight, or colder areas will lengthen cure times. Conversely, direct sun, warmer areas will shorten cure times. Avoid temperatures at or below freezing or above 100º F (O-38 C) for application, curing phase, or storage.
➢ Molecule [VMS] is a water-based, fluoropolymer, penetrating sealer. The curing phase is dependent upon complete evaporation of the water component (usually 4-12 hours in optimal) daytime conditions).
➢ Apply Molecule [VMS] in one single application coat. Do not divide recommended application rates into multiple coats. Always consult manufacturer coverage rate guidelines, or contact our Technical Support desk by phone 877-356-2250, or by email Info@TechniSoil.com.
➢ Do not apply Molecule [VMS] within a minimum of 24 hours before or after rainfall. In excessively wet conditions, allow project area to dry completely before application.
➢ Clean surface thoroughly before applying. Molecule [VMS] should not be applied over the top of other sealers, stains, efflorescence, or dirt as it may affect adhesion, cure, & finished aesthetic.

  6. Preparation

➢ Always perform a test section using recommended installation methods to confirm suitability of materials and project conditions!
➢ Remove all existing sealers, stains, dirt, efflorescence, graffiti, & debris with environmentally safe cleaning agent before applying Molecule [VMS]. Surface must be completely clean and dry before application.
➢ Do not apply in wet conditions. Plan a minimum 24 hour time window free of rainfall for application and curing phase.
➢ Coverage rates may vary based on surface porosity, texture, & application method.
➢ Keep project area free from any moisture such as rain or irrigation sprinklers until fully cured (4-12 hours in optimal daytime conditions).

  7. Installation of Molecule [VMS] Vertical Masonry Sealer

➢ For best results, thoroughly remove any residual pollen, dust, or debris from the surface using a leaf blower or brush before applying Molecule [VMS].
IMPORTANT! Remove any existing sealers, paint, stains, graffiti, & efflorescence with environmentally safe cleaning agent before applying Molecule [VMS]. Surface must be completely clean and dry before application.
➢ Mask or shield any adjacent surfaces in case of overspray or accidental spill. Use caution if applying on a windy day.
    ○ TIP: Use a piece of cardboard to mask nearby areas from overspray while applying. Painters plastic or tarps can be used to cover nearby flat surfaces, shrubs, and structures.
➢ Pour contents of Molecule [VMS] bottle into a 1-5 gallon (3.8-19 litre) capacity handheld or backpack pump sprayer.
➢ Carefully plan application process to avoid under or over application and runoff onto adjacent horizontal surfaces..
➢ Visually map out sections of application area according to recommended coverage rate to ensure proper coverage.
    ○ TIP: If the recommended coverage rate is 200 ft2/gallon (5.9 m2/ litre), measure an area that matches 200 ft2 (5.9 m2/ litre) 40’ x 5’ for example and set a small indicating marker at the beginning and end of the section. Ensure 1 gallon (3.8 litre) of sealer has been evenly distributed over the section.
Spray Molecule [VMS] evenly over surface using a side-to-side motion starting from the bottom and moving upward. Avoid significant runoff of sealer.
➢ Use a ⅜” (1 cm) nap roller to back-roll area immediately after spray application if necessary. A foam paint brush or grout sponge can be used in hard to reach areas.
➢ Sealer will have a muted white hue initially which quickly dissipates and turns clear.
➢ During application, avoid foaming sealer. If foaming occurs, distribute the liquid evenly using a roller, brush, or sponge.
IMPORTANT! Do not divide recommended application rates into multiple coats. Always consult manufacturer coverage rate guidelines or contact technical support at: 877-356-2250.
➢ Keep treated project areas free of any moisture such as rain or irrigation sprinklers until fully cured (usually 4-12 hours in optimal conditions)

  8. Cure Times for Molecule [VMS] Vertical Masonry Sealer

➢ Molecule [VMS] is a water-based, fluoropolymer, penetrating sealer. The curing phase is dependent upon complete evaporation of the water component (usually 4-12 hours in optimal daytime conditions).

  9. Cleanup

➢ Clean all tools immediately after use by simply rinsing tools with water and a soft bristle brush.
➢ In case of accidental sealer spill onto tools, equipment, or adjacent surfaces, clean immediately with soap and water as needed.
    ○ For dried sealer, use a 1:1 acetone / water mixture and a brush to scrub affected areas. Use caution, acetone will remove paint from surfaces.

  10. Storage of Molecule [VMS] Vertical Masonry Sealer

➢ Store unused Molecule [VMS] with lid secured indoors and out of direct sunlight in a temperature range of 40º-90º F (4.4-32.2 C)
    ○ Do not allow material to freeze

  11. Maintenance

➢ For periodic maintenance of surface sealed with Molecule [VMS], use Molecule [HS] Hardscape Shampoo to clean and bolster the protectant coating.
➢ Molecule [VMS] maintenance coats can be applied at the recommended application rates at any time, usually 6-24 months after initial application.
